On 5 December, VOX-Pol Coordinator, DCU’s Prof. Maura Conway, supplied an overview of 2018 activity in violent extremist and terrorist online activity at the European Union Internet Forum’s (EUIF) annual ministerial-level meeting. The event took place in the Berlaymont building, the headquarters of the European Commission, and was hosted by Commissioner for Migration, Home Affairs and Citizenship Dimitris Avramopoulos and Commissioner for the Security Union Julian King.
In addition to VOX-Pol, the meeting gathered a number of representatives from the internet industry including, Google/You Tube, Facebook, Microsoft, Twitter, Justpaste.it, Snap, WordPress and Yellow, as well as representatives from Member States, Europol, the EU Radicalisation Awareness Network, the European Strategic Communications Network (ESCN), UNCTED, and the United Nations Counterterrorism Executive Directorate.
