VOX-Pol attended the 2019 Security Research Event (SRE), which took place in Helsinki on the 6-7 November. The event was co-organised by the European Commission and the Finnish Ministry of the Interior as a side event of Finland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
The theme of this year’s SRE was ‘Building Bridges: Towards Increased Synergies Between Different Funding Schemes and Market Uptake’. The exhibition area spotlighted some 15 projects, displaying their inventive results.
The VOX-Pol stand featured our publications and the DCU coordination team was present to discuss the research. Additionally, our Coordinator, Professor Maura Conway (DCU), discussed the project at the ‘Speaker’s Corner’ on Day Two.
Other projects represented at the event and of potential interest to readers included DECOUNT, which has the objective of promoting democracy and fighting extremism through an online game and in which VOX-Pol’s Dr. Daniela Pisoiu is involved, and TENSOR, a H2020 project focused on developing a platform offering Law Enforcement Agencies fast and reliable planning and prevention functionalities for the early detection of online terrorist activities, radicalisation and recruitment.
