Michele Grossman
Dr Michele Grossman is Professor and Research Chair in Cultural Diversity and Community Resilience at the Alfred Deakin Institute for Citizenship and Globalisation, Deakin University, Australia. She is Director of the Centre for Resilient and Inclusive Societies (CRIS) and the founder and Convenor Emeritus of the AVERT Research Network.
Michele’s research focuses on engaging communities in preventing and countering violent extremism, building resilience, and understanding different dimensions of radicalisation to violence. Her ground-breaking international research project series on community reporting thresholds for violent extremism, including online reporting facilitators and barriers, has informed a range of national reporting models.
Michele is Associate Editor of Terrorism and Political Violence, an Editorial Board Member of the Journal of Policing, Intelligence and Counter Terrorism, and a past Robert Schuman (Distinguished Scholar) Fellow at the European University Institute in Florence. She received a Member of Australia (AM) in the 2023 King’s Birthday Honours List.
