Shaswati Das

Shaswati Das completed her PhD at the Department of Politics and International Relations at the University of York. Her research focussed on terrorist recruitment and counterterrorism in Kashmir, examining social movements, organisation and framing theories and prevalent political opportunities structures. Shaswati has studied the perpetuation of terrorist organisations and their clandestinity in regions of contestation, in the wake of counterterror and peacebuilding operations. She has conducted extensive fieldwork examining Islamist terrorism and left-wing extremism for over 10 years, simultaneously specialising in examining open-source intelligence data of terrorist organisations and how they inform counterterror operations.
