You are invited to attend the launch a new report from Human Digital and VOX-Pol, titled, ‘Gore & Violent Extremism: An explorative analysis of the use of gore websites for hosting and sharing extremist and terrorist content’.
This online event will take place on Wednesday 9 July at 17:00 BST / 16:00 UTC / 12:00 midday EDT. To attend, email info@voxpol.eu.
The report details the accessibility of gore content online and the use of gore websites for hosting and sharing violent extremist and terrorist content. The report comes at a time when violence fixation is of growing concern to governments, law enforcement, and those working in child safety.
Dozens of gore websites are hosting 1,000s of terrorist videos, uploaded alongside videos showing violent misogyny, bloody war footage, torture and death. At the same time, the online footprints of a significant number of recent lone actor perpetrators of violence – including in Southport, Nashville, and elsewhere, indicate prior engagement with gore content online.
Report authors, Christopher Stewart and Dr Ali Fisher, discuss the new publication and its policy recommendations. The launch is chaired by VOX-Pol’s, Professor Maura Conway
Like all VOX-Pol reports, it is available to read in full and for free on the VOX-Pol Publications page. The recording of the launch event is a private video on the VOX-Pol YouTube channel. If you wish to view it, please email info@voxpol.eu.
