Brenna Helm

Brenna Helm is a Research Associate and doctoral candidate (ABD) in the School of Criminal Justice at Michigan State University. Her research focuses on extremists’ use of the Internet and online subcultural communities, with a particular emphasis on the far-right and male supremacism. In her research, Brenna examines radicalization and mobilization pathways, subcultural engagement among users, and how digital platforms may be strategically used by extremists. She aims to produce research that helps identify risk and susceptibility factors, as well as trends and characteristics of digital extremist spaces that can be collectively leveraged to develop targeted intervention and disengagement strategies.
