Global Perspectives on Online Extremism: Highlights from the 9th VOX-Pol Summer School at Swansea University

Swansea University recently served as the vibrant hub for the ninth annual VOX-Pol Summer School, held from June 22nd to 26th. Over five intensive days, the event brought together a dynamic group of 23 researchers, analysts, and decision-makers for a comprehensive masterclass designed to tackle the complex, rapidly evolving landscape of violent online extremism.

This year’s cohort epitomized VOX-Pol’s commitment to global, cross-sector collaboration. Representing ten different countries and spanning four continents, the participants included PhD candidates at the cutting edge of academic research, alongside frontline practitioners and high-level policymakers. This diverse mix fostered a unique learning environment where theoretical frameworks directly collided with—and informed—practical, real-world security challenges.

As we wrap up a highly successful ninth edition, the VOX-Pol team is already looking toward the future. 2027 will mark a major milestone: the tenth VOX-Pol Summer School.

We will be announcing the location, dates, and application details for this landmark tenth anniversary event over the coming months. To stay updated on the call for applications and other VOX-Pol activities, subscribe to our newsletter and follow us on our social media channels.
